Dear Papa- A Letter To My Father !

Dear Papa,

Now, when I sit quietly and look back, my heart overflows.

I feel so incredibly blessed that you were my father- so forward-thinking, so quietly strong, so deeply kind. In a time when most daughters were still being told to stay quiet and small, you gave me the wings to fly. Imagine, Papa… 1964 and you never once made me feel like I was “just a girl.” You never treated your daughter any different from your sons. There were no lines, no labels, no “this is not for you.” There was only love. Only freedom. And trust.

You gave us all the same freedom to run, to fall, to try, to speak up- to be.

I played basketball when few girls did. I explored every silly idea that popped into my head. I made mistakes- oh, so sooo many-  and not once did you scold me into silence. You never said, “I told you so.” Instead, you stood by with that quiet smile and let me learn. You let me grow. You let me become.

Papa, you made space for my voice before I even knew how to use it. You listened. You let me disagree. You taught me that love doesn’t control- it trusts.

It’s because of you that I am the mother I am today. Because of you, I know that raising a child isn’t about molding them- it’s about holding them gently as they unfold into who they are meant to be. You were my greatest teacher. Not with lectures -but with life. With how you lived, how you loved, how you simply showed up.

You never gave up on me, even during the rough patches- those times I didn’t even believe in myself. And because of that, I never give up on my children either.

When Apoorva was born with cerebral palsy, I didn’t collapse under the weight of why us? I didn’t let pity pull me down. I remembered you. Your strength. Your steady faith. I took it as a challenge- a chance to give her the same kind of love and belief you once gave me. Not a single day did I let her feel less. Not once did I let the world’s opinions become her limits. And maybe that’s why she shines today- confident, capable, with a master’s degree and a heart full of fire. She is not our weakness, Papa-  she is our light.

And Aman-  oh, our brave boy- when he met with that terrifying accident at six, when doctors spoke in hushed voices about ruptured organs (pancreas and intestines)  and the uncertainty ahead, I held on to the faith I saw in you all my life. I chose hope. I chose belief. And today, he runs marathons with the same fierce spirit I once saw in your eyes. I see you in him. I see you in both of them.

You’re not gone, Papa. Not really. You are woven into every strength I carry, every word of encouragement I give, every time I hold space for my children to simply be. You are still teaching me- quietly, invisibly- just like you always did.

You were and will always be, my hero. My guide. My soft place to fall. In a world that’s always rushing, you were stillness. In a world that judged, you understood. In a world full of noise, you heard me.

I miss you every single day. Sometimes the ache is so quiet, it catches me off guard- like a whisper in the wind or the way the sun filters through the trees. But I smile too, because I know – you’re still here. In my heart. In my children. In every choice I make with love.

Thank you, Papa… for everything. For being you.

With all the love in the world,
Your daughter

“Beware the Naysayer: The World’s Most Unqualified Career Counselor”

Nothing quite warms a naysayer’s heart like telling you you’ll fail ,usually before you’ve even begun. These fine folks, armed with zero experience but an advanced degree in unsolicited opinion, will gladly assure you that your dreams are too big, too bold, and far too inconvenient for their comfort.

Why, the only thing naysayers ever successfully build is a tower of excuses, from which they yell: “Come down! It’s safer here!” You’ll find they are experts at staying precisely where they are , and if you’re lucky, they’ll offer you a front-row seat to join them.

My advice? Smile, nod, and return to your business of chasing horizons. If you must take advice, seek it from those who’ve actually outrun a few storms. And when your turn comes, don’t be the voice that rains on another man’s parade. Life has enough clouds,  Don’t Be One …~Latika Teotia

Break free of the bars that hold you caged !!!

Unless you risk and break free of the bars that hold you caged you won’t gain something which can take you to even greater heights. Gather all the courage; dare yourself to challenge the limits and cross the threshold of fear as well as anxiety- something better awaits you at the other end. Those who wait for fruits to fall wait longer than those who pluck it off the tree. ~Latika Teotia

Be resolute and stay focused !!!

If your heart is bent on accomplishing something and you are determined to achieve it- come what may- then, no power on Earth can stop you from achieving it. It may not happen immediately but eventually you will be able to make your dream come true. So don’t give up; be resolute and stay focused. It’s those that dream to fly who grow wings.~Latika Teotia

Keep on keeping on !!!

Failures are stepping stones to success. Rejections, negative responses, disappointments, rebuffs and so on should NOT shake your confidence. As we all know you are not down unless you decide not to get up. So keep on keeping on and shine. ~Latika Teotia

Advertisements for women should focus on health, happiness, self confidence !!!

Most of the advertisements for women talk of only two things; one fair complexion and the other anti aging. This results in creating unnecessary complexes, especially for those with dark complexions or those who are on the other side of young age. Is that the only way to measure women? A dark complexioned lady too is just as beautiful as those with other complexions. Women becomes more mature, much more graceful, tactful, loving, caring, kind and all encompassing with the passage of time. They has been through life’s journey and picked up precious nuggets of wisdom along the way. Advertisements should, instead, focus on health, happiness, poise, self confidence, self belief and self esteem. By staying fit and in good health, women are indirectly contributing to society. Healthy, cheerful persons full of confidence will spread the message of good will and make this world a better place to live in.

Firmly anchored to the confidence in her own self !!!

She was oppressed, trampled over, hurt, harmed and went through pain as well as sorrow till she decided to stand up to what was going on. She said a firm and emphatic NO to all the nonsense. She was determined to face her fears, heal the pain of countless wounds and come out of the shadows to claim her rightful place under the sun. Yes, she is a fighter and had that fire which refused to die down despite the torture and misery that she underwent. She now stands rock steady, full of self assurance, firmly anchored to the confidence in her own self.  Having freed herself from the deep dungeon of misery that she underwent all these years, she is now much more relaxed and at peace. Her life which was quite a mess is now uncluttered and she now travels much lighter having broken free of the chains that bound her. No longer is her energy being sucked in the wrong direction of the bygone miserable past nor is she unsure of the future because she has decided to create it to her heart’s desire. She’s fully alert with her feet firmly planted. The warrior in her has arrived !!! ~Latika Teotia
