Don’t just go around, wishing and wanting. Open your eyes to what a beautiful life has been gifted to you. Don’t move around blinded by the veil of your desires just because society wants you to get into the “more-better-best” race. Sit back and start counting all the gifts and blessings you have been given. Appreciate more. With an appreciating heart, for what you have ,even if you don’t get more, you will still be at peace. ~Latika Teotia
Be thankful for what you have; don’t brood over your misfortunes. Perhaps some calamity has befallen you or perhaps you have lost a near and dear one. Maybe you have recently had some serious health issues or perhaps you are having financial problems. Yes, such circumstances are very difficult to bear and you feel that your world has crashed. But even then there is so much to be thankful for.
A man lost his shop and his entire life’s savings in a fire. When someone asked him what he had lost, he replied, “The fire burnt my shop and life’s savings but my confidence is intact.”
Rise from your gloom, shed the negativity that invariably accompanies a tragedy and count your blessings; you’ll realize that you have much to be grateful for. Thank the Lord for what you have. ~Latika Teotia
Every day brings forth a bouquet of wonderful gifts; all you have to do is to look around you. Some may be very apparent or evident. It could be something as simple as accidentally meeting an old friend or discovering an old photo of yours or someone dear to you. Memories stored long ago in some hidden chamber come tumbling out giving you immense joy. Be thankful for these gifts- big or small. ~Latika Teotia
Happy persons SEE joy in everything; they don’t go SEARCHING for it. They see God’s miracles and learn to enjoy them. The flight of a bird, rainbow in the sky, fluttering of butterflies, children playing with gay abandon, an old couple in the park enjoying their togetherness, sunrise, clouds in the sky, a clear sunny day or the rhythm of the falling rain, and so many countless things fill them with joy.
Happy persons aren’t necessarily the rich or the famous ones. They are content with what they have and are delighted by even the smallest thing. Learn to enjoy what you have instead of hankering for more. Don’t be overly concerned about the past and don’t be anxious about the future either otherwise you’ll not be able to enjoy the present. ~Latika Teotia
Quite often I have conversations with my own self in my ‘me moments’ and take stock of my life. I express gratitude to God for what I have. I have learnt in the course of these ‘me moments’ that it’s best not to pursue what you cannot change and hanker for something which isn’t yours. Being envious of others for what they have doesn’t help; you have no idea what problems the others faced before they got what they have. Be content with what you have; God has already doled out what is yours and it will come to you in its own time. No amount of fretting or fuming will help in trying to get what’s not meant to be yours. Trust God and enjoy His gifts. ~Latika Teotia
I am content with my life and the journey so far. God has been kind, He has taught me to count my Blessings and, as far as possible, . Who doesn’t have problems? Life’s journey is full of ups and downs- no one is an exception. How you handle yourself when life throws a punch at you and how grateful you are when you are riding on a high is what matters.
Learn lessons from everything- including, and especially, adversity. Notice those beautiful moments, learn to enjoy a beautiful sunrise with a cup of freshly brewed coffee sitting on the patio or the music of the birds chirping in your backyard or the flight of birds on a clear cloudless day when all is still or the hug of a close friend. Learn to open up and notice things around you. Miracles are happening all around you. Reach out to those in need. If you can be of some help to even one person or if you can make a difference in the life of someone you are living a soulful life.
We are greedy by nature and are not content with what we have; we fail to recognize our blessings and are forever hankering for more (some mistakenly call it ambition). It is only when we have nothing that we appreciate and value everything big or small; we become happy at even the smallest change in our fortunes.
We should remain content with whatever material wealth we possess and not close our eyes to the real riches that life has given us. Count your blessings. Lead a life of piety, of kindness, of empathy, of compassion and a life filled with love for ourselves as well as others. These are our true assets- our real treasures.
How people remember us behind our back while we are living and after we have passed on is the true wealth that we accumulate during our lives. So, try to leave a good legacy before that final adieu. ~Latika Teotia
Every day brings forth a new gift, be grateful that we are present to receive it. We have much to be thankful for. We should be grateful for our journey so far, for those special events in our lives, for those sweet memories of yesteryears, for the family that we were born into, for the family that grew around us with the passage of time, for the friends who joined us along the way and for a million other things. We should be grateful for every small and big thing that life has given us. ~Latika Teotia
You can choose to be happy or miserable- that choice depends entirely on your own self. You don’t have to look far to find happiness; the first step is to count your blessings and express gratitude for them. One should never compare oneself with others; and if at all you want to, then do that with those beneath you or those who are less fortunate. If you can see (even though you may have to use glasses) then you are luckier than those who are visually handicapped and who would give their right arm to be able to see even from one eye. If you can hear, talk and walk then you are luckier than those handicapped on account of these. So next time you are feeling sad, down and depressed, just carry out this small exercise- count your blessings. Before long you’ll have enough reasons to feel uplifted and happy. ~Latika Teotia
