HOPE keeps us going !!!

Our inner strength and self belief comes into play when we face rough weather. By nature we are reluctant to move out of our comfort zones but when pushed into a corner we jump up to face what life throws at us.

We realise subsequently in hindsight that whatever happened was good and we feel glad that it happened the way it did as well as at the time it did. It could be the breakup of a rotten and difficult relationship which we had been unsuccessfully trying to maintain or it could be a job that was giving us endless nightmares and such like situations or circumstances.

When we pass through such transitional period it is HOPE that keeps us going. Hope, that things can’t remain as bad forever. Hope, that we’ll see light at the end of the long tunnel of dark despair. Hope, that a bright sunshine awaits us the end of the seemingly endless gloomy night. Nurture that hope, never let it die. Keep a positive attitude. ~Latika Teotia

Turn to the future with new hope !!!

In life we have two very clear choices; either keep remembering and reliving the painful past of disappointments, failures, heartbreaks, dismay, depression and so on or hug the joy of God’s grace as well as His love. I choose the latter because life is full of challenges- disappointments, failures and so on are a part of it.

There’s no point in brooding over the pain of yesteryears; it’s time to seek His guidance to lead a blissful and graceful life. Let go of the past and turn to the future with new hope; I’m sure it has a lot of good things in store for you. Go ahead, enjoy your present and let the future surprise you. ~Latika Teotia

You are your best help !!!

You are your best help. Don’t look to others when you are down, get up and get going- if someone lends a helping hand, treat it as a bonus; don’t ever take anybody’s help for granted and don’t depend on it either. It’s only when you feel responsible for yourself, for your troubles, your failures, your disappointments and your problems that you will realise that you have to tide over them too. So, if you are down, fill yourself up with courage and get going- no one’s coming to pick you up. ~Latika Teotia

Stop berating and punishing yourself !!!

If you commit a mistake, stop berating and punishing yourself. You are human and you will commit mistakes. God loves you so seek His forgiveness and move on.

Maybe, the mistakes you commit could be because you’ve been pushing yourself too hard. Maybe, it’s time to take a break. Give yourself “me” time- you may feel rejuvenated after your ‘aloneness’. Draw upon your inner strength and come out even stronger and better. With God on your side you don’t have to worry. Start appreciating your strengths you have been blessed with and practice self compassion.~Latika Teotia

Have the courage to change !!!

At times we get caught in the web of negativity. We see dark clouds everywhere, nothing seems to go right, whatever we touch appears to wilt and we feel that nothing will ever go right again. Happy times appear to be behind us and all this starts reflecting in every area of our life.

It is precisely at times like these that we must learn to let go and move on. It could be your job where nothing seems to be working well for you- maybe you have a bad boss or unhelpful peers or uncooperative subordinates. It could be your relationship where no amount of stoking ignites the fire of yesteryears. It could even be your neighborhood and a bunch of too inquisitive or plain indifferent neighbours. Or it could be anything of this sort. In these so called gloomy periods of your life, learn to take a step back, look at your situation with detachment and before long the solution will stare at you in your face.

The earlier you decide that nothing is worth spoiling your peace of mind the better it’ll be for you. Change that uncomfortable job- if you can; say goodbye to that relationship; move out of that neighborhood or ignore them and likewise decide to get rid of anything that’s taking away your peace of mind.

The moment you decide to move on a huge weight lifts, you are filled with new found energy and you feel motivated to take on life once again. Things start falling into place once again and you begin to feel that life will be even better than before. All you have to do is to have the courage to change direction and fly. ~Latika Teotia

Treat every moment with reverence !!!

The most unexpected turn in your life’s journey at times becomes the defining moment when a beautiful part of your life actually begins. That meeting with a complete stranger on a train journey; that quarrel when you suddenly caught a glimpse of the ugly side of the other person’s character; that sudden inspiration to try something and so many other such events happen for a reason. You never know when it’s your ‘Eureka’ moment. So treat every moment with reverence. ~Latika Teotia

Take a plunge !!!

There are times when you have to leave your comfort zone to grow and evolve. You’ll naturally be anxious about the next step- whether you’ll step on the ladder of success or fall into a pit of failure. Be bold, be brave and have full faith in God. With Him holding your hand nothing can go wrong. So go ahead, step out of that cocoon and take a plunge. ~Latika Teotia

Overcome Dependency !!!

We undergo all kinds of pain and misery. There are times when nothing works well and the future appears to be bleak. There appears to be no end in sight and no relief from the continuous misery. We must always trust God and pray but it is times such as these that we must turn to Him with even bigger zeal. He is our Saviour and He alone can show us a way out. Adversity teaches us to be brave and we come out that much stronger from the experience. Perhaps, God wants to make us strong and independent, therefore, He is trying to remove our crutches- our over dependence on someone or something. This reminds me of a story about a poor family and their cow.

Once upon a time in a far away land, there lived a wise teacher and his disciple. During one of their travels, they came upon an extremely poor family staying in a miserable hut in a desolate place where there were hardly any crops or greenery. A man lived with his wife, three young children and a thin, tired looking cow. Since they were hungry and thirsty, the wise man and his disciple stopped for a few hours and were well received. The family shared whatever little they could with them. Later, the wise man thanked the owner and asked him, “This is a very poor and desolate place, far away from anything. I can see hardly any crops or vegetables growing. How do you survive?”

The man replied, “You see that cow? That’s what keeps us going. She gives us milk, some of it we turn into cheese. We go into the city and exchange the milk and cheese for our needs – including food. When it rains we try to grow some vegetables wherever we can because it is rocky and there hardly any good land. That’s how we survive.”

The wise man thanked them for their hospitality and left. When he reached the first bend in the road, he said to his disciple, “Go back, get the cow, take her to that cliff in front of us, and push her off it.”

The disciple could not believe his ears. “I cannot do that, master! How can we be so ungrateful, cruel and heartless? The cow is all they have. If I throw it off the cliff, they won’t be able to survive. Without the cow, they’ll all die!”
The wise man took a deep breath and repeated the order- a little firmly this time. Though outraged, the student obeyed his teacher. He returned to the hut, untied the cow and quietly led it to the edge of the cliff from where he pushed it. The animal fell down and died.

As the years passed by, remorse for what he had done never left the disciple. One day, the guilt became too much to bear so he left the wise man to see the family of that little hut. He wanted to find out what had happened to them; to help them out, apologize or somehow make amends. Upon rounding a turn in the road, he saw that in place of the poor miserable hut stood a beautiful house with trees all around, a well manicured lawn, a swimming pool and several cars in the garage- in short a prosperous looking place. The family was celebrating their first million dollars.

The heart of the disciple froze and wondered what could have happened to that poor family. Without a doubt, they must have been forced to sell their land and leave. Perhaps at this very moment they must all be begging on the streets of some city. He approached the house and asked them the whereabouts of the family that had lived in poverty there several years ago.

“You’re looking at that family,” said the man. At that instant the disciple recognized the owner of the poor hut, only now he was much healthier, happier and confident. The woman too looked happy and the children were now healthy good looking teenagers.

He was dumbfounded, and asked, “What happened? I was here with my teacher a few years ago and this was a miserable place. There was nothing. What did you do to improve your lives in such a short period?”

The man looked at the disciple and replied with a smile, “Yes I remember you and the wise man. After you left, our cow strayed and fell off the cliff. When I went down, I found it dead. Initially I cursed my bad luck. But we had no time to cry. In order to survive, we had to start doing other things. We discovered skills we didn’t even know we possessed. Because we were forced to come up with new ideas, new ways of doing things, we prospered and are now much better off than before.”

At times our biggest obstacle is over dependence on something fragile. The crutches that should be helping us to move ahead become chains that hinder our growth. So, perhaps, God wants to “push your cow off the cliff” and make you aware of your strengths. Trust Him and turn to Him for guidance.

Trust your faith !!!

At times we feel that our life is caught up in a very difficult maze which appears to be too difficult to cross because there’s a dead end at every turn. The ship of our life is caught in a severe storm and all appears to be lost. It appears that God has tightly banged shut all our doors. When such a situation occurs, continue to have faith in Him. Perhaps He has deliberately blocked the path you were traveling on because He wants you to follow another one.

Perhaps you were going wrong and it was His signal to you to mend your ways. Or perhaps He has plans for a better life for you; maybe something fantastic is coming along. Have patience, practice affirmative thinking, send out love to the universe, clear all your negative thoughts which are causing anxiety and don’t ever lose faith in Him. On the contrary pray harder and with even more faith because it’s this (faith of yours) which will finally bring everything which is good (for you). ~Latika Teotia
