Nothing is more important than your own happiness and peace !!!

You live only once so make the most of it. Don’t slog so hard that work becomes your life; instead enjoy your work and set limits or boundaries, don’t cross them. Similarly love, but do that to make yourself happy, love for a life of fulfillment, love if it makes you ‘complete’ love because you ‘want’ to and not because you ‘have’ to; it’ll be a big mistake if you love out of compulsion or to please someone or because someone wants you to. Dream and fulfill them; set achievable goals.

Don’t live in utopia, be grounded to reality; strike a balance between what you want and what you can achieve- whether it’s work or relationship or anything else. This will lead to a sense of satisfaction and avoid frustration. Don’t cling on to something which has ceased to be yours- whether it’s a failed relationship or work or anything else- learn to let go; if it’s giving you tensions or is a drag on your happiness, it’s best to get rid of it at the earliest. Nothing is more important than your own happiness. It may be difficult initially but with the passage of time you’ll find that it was the best option. ~Latika Teotia

Brooding harms !!!

Brooding over failures as well as depressing events of the past have a negative and crippling effect on our future because it prevents us from moving forward. So, make a conscious decision to not give any energy to it. Playing the victim only harms you, stop doing that, instead make a new beginning. ~Latika Teotia

Shake it off !!! Begin again !!!

Don’t waste time over regretting what happened to you and brooding over it. Be realistic- it’s over. Come to terms with it. The earlier you bounce back, the better it’ll be for you.  ~Latika Teotia

Trust God !!!

We undergo all kinds of pain and misery. There are times when nothing works well and the future appears to be bleak. There appears to be no end in sight and no relief from the continuous misery. We must always trust God and pray but it is times such as these that we must turn to Him with even bigger zeal. He is our Saviour and He alone can show us a way out. Adversity teaches us to be brave and we come out that much stronger from the experience. Perhaps, God wants to make us strong and independent, therefore, He is trying to remove our crutches- our over dependence on someone or something. This reminds me of a story about a poor family and their cow.

Once upon a time in a far away land, there lived a wise teacher and his disciple. During one of their travels, they came upon an extremely poor family staying in a miserable hut in a desolate place where there were hardly any crops or greenery. A man lived with his wife, three young children and a thin, tired looking cow. Since they were hungry and thirsty, the wise man and his disciple stopped for a few hours and were well received. The family shared whatever little they could with them. Later, the wise man thanked the owner and asked him, “This is a very poor and desolate place, far away from anything. I can see hardly any crops or vegetables growing. How do you survive?”

The man replied, “You see that cow? That’s what keeps us going. She gives us milk, some of it we turn into cheese. We go into the city and exchange the milk and cheese for our needs – including food. When it rains we try to grow some vegetables wherever we can because it is rocky and there hardly any good land. That’s how we survive.”

The wise man thanked them for their hospitality and left. When he reached the first bend in the road, he said to his disciple, “Go back, get the cow, take her to that cliff in front of us, and push her off it.”
The disciple could not believe his ears. “I cannot do that, master! How can we be so ungrateful, cruel and heartless? The cow is all they have. If I throw it off the cliff, they won’t be able to survive. Without the cow, they’ll all die!”
The wise man took a deep breath and repeated the order- a little firmly this time. Though outraged, the student obeyed his teacher. He returned to the hut, untied the cow and quietly led it to the edge of the cliff from where he pushed it. The animal fell down and died.
As the years passed by, remorse for what he had done never left the disciple. One day, the guilt became too much to bear so he left the wise man to see the family of that little hut. He wanted to find out what had happened to them; to help them out, apologize or somehow make amends. Upon rounding a turn in the road, he saw that in place of the poor miserable hut stood a beautiful house with trees all around, a well manicured lawn, a swimming pool and several cars in the garage- in short a prosperous looking place. The family was celebrating their first million dollars.
The heart of the disciple froze and wondered what could have happened to that poor family. Without a doubt, they must have been forced to sell their land and leave. Perhaps at this very moment they must all be begging on the streets of some city. He approached the house and asked them the whereabouts of the family that had lived in poverty there several years ago.

“You’re looking at that family,” said the man. At that instant the disciple recognized the owner of the poor hut, only now he was much healthier, happier and confident. The woman too looked happy and the children were now healthy good looking teenagers.
He was dumbfounded, and asked, “What happened? I was here with my teacher a few years ago and this was a miserable place. There was nothing. What did you do to improve your lives in such a short period?”
The man looked at the disciple and replied with a smile, “Yes I remember you and the wise man. After you left, our cow strayed and fell off the cliff. When I went down, I found it dead. Initially I cursed my bad luck. But we had no time to cry. In order to survive, we had to start doing other things. We discovered skills we didn’t even know we possessed. Because we were forced to come up with new ideas, new ways of doing things, we prospered and are now much better off than before.”
At times our biggest obstacle is over dependence on something fragile. The crutches that should be helping us to move ahead become chains that hinder our growth. So, perhaps, God wants to “push your cow off the cliff” and make you aware of your strengths. Trust Him and turn to Him for guidance.

Take a chance on change !!!

In order to remain relevant we have to keep up with the times; this may mean changing ourselves, adapting to the situation, carrying out mid course corrections and so on. At times these may forced on us and at other times these may come about by accident. Therefore, in a way, we are constantly evolving; our effort should be to evolve into a better person- better than the previous one before we decided to change. We must get rid of the extra baggage that we have been lugging around; in fact we must constantly take stock and free ourselves off what doesn’t help us evolve. Take a leap; don’t be afraid. Remember, we have nothing to lose but our own inhibitions, fears and limitations. ~Latika Teotia

Trust God and make way for a New Beginning !!!

Don’t run after people or plead with them beseeching them to return. If they leave you they were never meant to be a part of your complete journey. However difficult you may find it initially, don’t break down. Take it as a sign from God. Perhaps they were hampering your growth, perhaps they had made you so dependent that your entire world revolved around them. You must accept this change and move on .You need people in your life who are supposed to be there according to your destiny.

Keep your eyes open, someone better is coming along. Trust God !!!

Move on and shine bright !!!

When someone leaves you at your weakest moment you feel that the sky has fallen on you. A feeling of being dumped after being used fills you; your very being cries out from deep within.

That is the time you have to become strong- which you are. It is they who have been mean, broken your trust, shattered the faith you had in them and generally behaved like rats on a sinking ship. That’s when you should understand that you are no sinking ship but a properly grounded person, someone to whom everyone turns for help or advice and a lighthouse which has guided many ships during storms.

Let them find out that you don’t break down so easily- you are made of much sterner stuff. It is they that have lost a good friend, an able guide, a reliable companion and a very strong person. It is they who should feel lost and at sea. Good riddance. Move on and shine bright. ~Latika Teotia

Make way for a New Beginning !!!

The best way to move on and move forward is to let go of the past. By past I mean everything hurtful, everything that brings or reminds us of pain, everything that was unpleasant and everything that led to disappointments. Unless you do that, the way forward will continue to be uphill. Let go and move on.  ~Latika Teotia

Save yourself from people who are not meant for you and who hurt your soul !!!

God has removed some people from your life for a reason, respect that or else you won’t be able to live a life He wants you to. Do not keep going back to the people who have been removed from your life or who have hurt you. Be firm and stand up against the injustice that is being heaped on you. Refuse to be cowed down. Not putting up with the nonsense of others will not be construed as being rude or unkind, you will still continue to be a sweet, loving, kind and gentle person that you really are. ~Latika Teotia

Don’t be tied down by bitterness and let it not ruin your life !!!

The choice to remain unhappy because of your hurts, pains and miseries by hanging on to them or live happily by forgiving and moving on is yours. There are lots of times that you may have felt that injustice had been done to you, that you were kind to someone who in return turned out to be ungrateful, that you loved with all your heart giving it all that you had but what you got in return was a broken heart and broken dreams, in short life has been very unfair to you. Right ??? So what do you want to do ? ??Hang on to those miserable thoughts and moments? Will it help in any way ??? Are you going to get justice, will your heart be the same once again???
Get real. Hanging on to bitter memories will only harm you because you will turn bitter and you will go crazy simply trying to deal with this accumulated mound of misery. Choose instead to forgive, ignore and move on. Get rid of that excess baggage that you have been carrying in your heart all this while and you will suddenly feel lighter as if a huge stone has been lifted from your chest. Forgive quickly and unconditionally, that’s the best way forward. Don’t be tied down by bitterness and let it not ruin your life. ~Latika Teotia
