Anything held for a long time becomes heavy. Try holding a glass of water for a minute, ten minutes, half an hour and an hour. Though no water has been added or taken out, the weight increases progressively. Same goes with our negative thoughts. The longer you hold on to them, the heavier they’ll become till you reach a stage when negativity takes over your complete self and drives out even a small speck of positivity.
I’m reminded of the story of a small boy who always used to fight with his classmates. One day the teacher called him aside and asked why he was getting into fights with everyone. The boy told her that they started the fight not he. She asked him why he had kicked John for no apparent reason. He replied that John had kicked him before lunch time and run away; since he could get hold of him (John) in the class he took revenge. And the boy narrated several other instances of his class mates who initiated the quarrel and he had only retaliated. The wise teacher told the boy to hence forth carry a bag with a dozen potatoes in it. He was not supposed to take it off even after reaching home and could take it off only when he went off to sleep. The boy did as was asked. He didn’t find any difficulty the first day. The next day he was slightly uncomfortable but could manage it through the day. And so his discomfort increased with each passing day, later even the potatoes started rotting and left a stench. Finally when the boy couldn’t take it anymore he approached the teacher and requested her to allow him to take the bag off. When the teacher asked him the reason he told her that the bag had become very heavy and letting out a rotten smell. The teacher then drew a comparison between the bag of potatoes and his desire to take revenge. She told him that when he carried such negativity it made him turn negative and he wasn’t able to enjoy the good things because his mind, like the rotten potatoes, was always cluttered with negativity and rotten thoughts.
So, learn to let go and move on. Don’t imprison your mind with negativity. Life is meant to be lived positively full of love and cheer ~Latika Teotia
Our inner strength and self belief comes into play when we face rough weather. By nature we are reluctant to move out of our comfort zones but when pushed into a corner we jump up to face what life throws at us.
We realise subsequently in hindsight that whatever happened was good and we feel glad that it happened the way it did as well as at the time it did. It could be the breakup of a rotten and difficult relationship which we had been unsuccessfully trying to maintain or it could be a job that was giving us endless nightmares and such like situations or circumstances.
When we pass through such transitional period it is HOPE that keeps us going. Hope, that things can’t remain as bad forever. Hope, that we’ll see light at the end of the long tunnel of dark despair. Hope, that a bright sunshine awaits us the end of the seemingly endless gloomy night. Nurture that hope, never let it die. Keep a positive attitude. ~Latika Teotia
Don’t let the virus of negative thoughts come into your world and wipe out the hard disc of your life; stay positive. Make a promise to yourself that you will steer clear of anything that brings a frown on the countenance- yours or someone else’s.
There are millions of ways in which you can spread joy as well as cheer. Follow that path. Start by putting a smile on your face first- that small curve can make a big difference in your life and in the lives of others. Think of good things only and banish the ones that pull you or the others down. Talk of good things, not bad; always talk of health, happiness, cheerfulness and prosperity. Look at the glass half full, not half empty; see the good side of everything.
Vow to stay optimistic, and make every effort to live it as well as make it come true. Make optimism your way of life. Make your friends as well as family feel special, show them their strengths, wipe out their negative thoughts. Be thrilled, excited and enthusiastic about their achievements as well as successes. Be good, do good and you’ll find that this world is a good place to live in.
Remove all your nagging self doubts and let your spirit soar. Focusing only on the positive and feeling grateful for what’s going well in your life is a way to live a life of abundance as well as bliss. Repeat to yourself over and over again that you are going to lead a wonderful life. Open yourself and fill your spirit with love, positivity and light. ~Latika Teotia
We are responsible for creating our own lives so why not start loving ourselves by taking care of our thoughts, words and deeds. ~Latika Teotia
Anything that drains your emotions or fills you with negativity is not good for your soul; avoid such people, thoughts, situations and so on. Surround yourself with positive people whose company gives you happiness and peace of mind.~Latika Teotia
Whatever is happening to me is for my good; I have full faith in God. He will never do something that is not good for us nor will He ever forsake us. He works in mysterious ways and keeps an eye on each one of us. Therefore, I will continue on my path and continue doing what I’m doing as also what I want to do. I’ll not hold myself back. If there is a mess around me, I’ll work even harder to turn it into something positive; perhaps God has a message for me, I’ll try to find it. My faith in the Good Lord is unshakeable. ~Latika Teotia
Indulge yourself because you have to learn to love yourself first before you try to reconstruct your life and piece it together. Go on, release those bottled up feelings, let your hair down and do what gives you real happiness. Believe me, you will feel relieved and feel much lighter. Don’t let situations and people pull you down. Promise yourself that you will live life your way on your terms and put your own self first. Surround yourself with positive people and never ever feel sorry for yourself- self pity will only bring negativity in its wake. So go ahead rebuild your life and live it the way you want to. ~Latika Teotia
Be appreciative about others, don’t criticize or crib about them. Gossiping will only fill you with negativity. Speak well about others. Positivity begets positivity. Don’t be in a hurry to pass judgment or criticize, check yourself before you do. It’ll pass- once you make a deliberate effort to be positive. If you can’t speak well of others then you have no right to speak ill either. A critical attitude spoils everything. You aren’t happy; in turn you don’t give your best, resultantly you get ticked off. Because you get ticked off you crib and criticize little realizing that you started this vicious circle in the first place.
What, then, is the solution ??? It’s simple. Learn to see the good in everything and, more importantly, ignore the bad. Don’t go to the garden to see only those patches where there’s no grass, the beds where the flowers have not been able to bloom or the places where there are overgrown hedges. Instead go to relax, see the flowers in full bloom. Be thankful that you have sight to see things. Don’t criticize the elevator that broke down this morning- be thankful that you are strong enough to climb stairs. Don’t find fault with your boss and your job- be grateful that you have a job. Don’t look at the world through a tainted window- clean it first and you will realize that it’s bright and sunny outside. ~Latika Teotia
Cheer those passing through tough times but trying to smile all the same. Encourage them to keep trying and not to give in or give up. Tell them it’s not over until YOU say it’s over. Appreciate their positivity; tell them that you are proud of them and that they deserve to succeed. ~Latika Teotia
